A high-motor glue guy: the player who makes winning plays that don't always show up in the stat sheet.

Background

I was born and raised in Zurich, in the Unterstrass neighborhood. Sports were never optional for me — they were part of my everyday life from the very beginning. My mother played professional soccer for the Swiss national team, and that same drive shaped me from an early age.

I've been active in sports consistently since I was 5 years old. I started with soccer, which I played for 10 years, including 2 years at FC Zürich. I was also selected for 2 talent development programs run by the City of Zurich for athletic children. Since I was 15, I've trained at least twice a day, currently three times a day, which adds up to about four hours of basketball every single day. In all these years, I've never taken a break longer than two weeks, because I can't go without basketball for that long. I don't just focus on the big things. I pay attention to the details other players skip, whether that means putting in a fourth session the next day or diving for every loose ball and high-fiving teammates during a game. That mindset is what earned me the nickname "Motor Guy" from coaches.

Attitude toward life

Alongside school and sports, I've built my own network, from people my age to others in their nineties. Among others, I've had the opportunity to work with the CEO of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and the CFO of Kuhn Rikon, learning from them how to genuinely move a business forward. Those conversations taught me that respect and openness toward every person, regardless of age or position, are the key to making a real difference.

Coaches and my family call me the "Glue Guy", the person who holds a group together but also steps up to lead when needed. I enjoy being around people and I'd describe myself as active and outgoing. I stand by my word and when setbacks happen, I see them as part of the learning process, something I've approached the same way my entire life.

Why college in the US

The college lifestyle in the US is more than a dream for me: the chance to pursue a degree I'm genuinely passionate about, build connections with people from all over the world, and compete in basketball at the highest level, all at the same time. That combination — giving everything both academically and athletically — is exactly why I want to take this path.

Why I am the right fit

Balancing school, work and many hours (4+) of basketball a day for years has made a demanding college schedule feel familiar rather than intimidating. I show up every day without needing to be pushed, take coaching without ego, and I'm used to adjusting quickly when a coach asks for something different — on the court, that shows up as doing the work that doesn't appear in the stat sheet: setting the right screen, boxing out, sprinting back on defense.

Business & work ethic

That same discipline carries over off the court. I'm in my third year of a Swiss apprenticeship in Digital Business, where I run my own project in the back office of Blue Cinema, a group of around 12 cinemas across Switzerland — real work responsibility alongside school and sport, not just theory.
